Types of water pipes
Stainless steel pipes are traditionally used in plumbing systems – durable, durable, resistant to mechanical damage, withstanding high pressure and temperature, so stainless steel pipes are often used in construction for plumbing systems. Unfortunately, they are exposed to the negative effects of salts and alkalis, especially in urban water supply systems, where water is chemically treated. As a result, the inside of the pipe overgrows with bloom, because of this its diameter narrows and, accordingly, water permeability decreases. Among the shortcomings of steel pipes it should be noted the large weight and complexity of installation.
The ideal material for water pipes is copper, the life of pipes can last for centuries, and their performance will not deteriorate.
Copper pipes of light weight, easy to bend, they can manually give any shape, even a very steep bend, which will allow to use them in difficult areas.
Traditional steel is gradually replacing polymer pipes. This is due to their advantages: corrosion resistance, simple installation, low weight (they are several times lighter than steel ones); strength, chemical neutrality, and, consequently, the absence of fouling of the inner surface of the pipe. The life of polymer pipes is fifty years.
Polymer water pipes are made of polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polybutylene, polypropylene and other polymers.
Due to the high coefficient of linear expansion, as the temperature rises, polymer pipes can vary considerably in size.
Metal-polymer pipes consisting of three layers: the inner part of the pipe is made of plastic, a thin layer of aluminum foil and the outer plastic protective sheath. Between the layers is adhesive composition. Thanks to this design, the positive qualities of metal and polymers are connected in pipes. With a slight coefficient of linear expansion, the temperature range of their application is quite wide, they are well protected from the ingress of air. Metal pipes, among other things, you can give any shape, they bend well without changing the strength. Of these, it is easy to create complex system configurations and various liners, they are wonderfully combined with all other types of pipes.
