How to decorate the ceiling

The ceiling can be not only imperceptible – from the background it can really be turned into almost the dominant element of the interior. It is enough to choose the right decor for this surface. Indeed, in addition to the well-known methods of finishing the ceiling with whitewash, tiles, slats, stretch PVC-cloth, there are more interesting decor options.

Since ancient times, the ceiling is decorated with plaster moldings, this method of finishing can be called a classic. However, it is not suitable for every interior – stucco perfectly fits into the palace style.

For decoration, you can choose ceiling decors in the form of rosettes, borders, cornices. It should take into account the weight of the material: even a small outlet can weigh more than 10 kg. Installation of stucco is better to entrust the specialist. In the process of work, the gypsum is customized for irregularities and primed, after which the elements can be painted in marble, gold and silver. As a rule, plaster elements are made to order.
How to decorate the ceiling Today, the replacement of gypsum stucco has appeared – a cheaper and easier finish from polyurethane foam. It does not crumble, is not afraid of moisture, it is easy to stick it yourself on polyurethane glue or special putty. A variety of finished decors allows you to choose a picture for any interior.

If the ceiling height allows, it can be decorated with imitation beams in the style of a French chalet. Outwardly, they are almost indistinguishable from natural wooden elements, but they are made of polymeric materials. Fake beams are much lighter than real ones – their weight usually does not exceed 6 kg. Therefore, such elements are fixed with screws or with construction glue.

Beams from polymers of three types are on the market: polystyrene foam, polyurethane and fiberglass. The first ones are inexpensive, but they are of low strength, the second ones are practical and look more natural. The beams made of composite fiberglass are practically excluded chips and scratches during installation, they can be of any colors and sizes.

How to decorate the ceilingFinishing the ceiling with a cloth – the once forgotten and re-used method of decoration. A big plus of this option is that with the help of drapery, you can hide various defects of the ceiling. Designers offer to combine fabrics with other finishes.

There is also a kind of stretch fabric ceilings. Usually, satin with special impregnation is used for these purposes. Thin matter is stretched onto the frame-frame. The decorative effect of this type of ceiling is that almost any drawing can be printed on it: clouds on the canvas for the children’s room, the starry sky – for the bedroom. Serve such a ceiling for about 10 years.
