Surface preparation for plastering

Plaster is the main method of leveling surfaces and preparing them for further finishing. But the plastering process also requires a preparatory stage.

The main quality of the plaster – excellent adhesion to the surface. If the grip is bad, then the material will crack and fall off over time. To eliminate unpleasant moments, it is necessary to prepare the surface in advance with high quality.

Clean the wall of dirt, grease and dust, give proper roughness.
All plastering work is best done after the end of the main activities in order to eliminate contamination and damage to the material. Of course, each surface requires its own specific method of preparation. The complexity of the work depends on the type of surface.

The brick surface is the easiest to process, the walls of stone are more complex, the concrete ones are the most labor-intensive. If soot is present, it must be cleaned with a solution of hydrochloric acid (a three percent solution is taken as the basis), then the surface is treated with water. Cleaning is best done with a steel brush. When contaminated with oil or resin, it is necessary to remove a thicker layer; if the fat penetrates deep enough, cut it out. The surface is perfectly cleaned with a sandblaster. For safety purposes, all work must be carried out in special protective glasses and gloves. Sometimes, PVA glue is used in combination with cement to obtain a better surface.

To prepare a wall with a more complex surface, it is recommended to use a metal mesh with cells. To increase the heat insulation, wooden plates are superimposed on the surface, stretching the mat. These materials adhere well to plaster, provide an even application and long service life.

If the stone and concrete surface is in the form of plastered for more than a year, then serious and more thorough processing is required. The wall is first washed, then cleaned, then a notch is made. The solution better adheres to a rough surface.

Before you apply the plaster, you should carefully study the instructions, the method of application, the requirements for the surface (for which types it is intended), only after that to get to work.

Application of the solution – the most important and significant stage in the process of finishing works. Not only aesthetic perception of space, but also inner mental balance depends on the quality of the application. After all, when everything is perfect, in the room you want to stay and enjoy the beauty!
