Proper bath ventilation

When designing a bath you need to put in the first place the design of ventilation.

Ventilation in the bath or sauna is necessary for three reasons:

in order that bathing procedures bring real benefits;
the air in the room warms up faster and more evenly;
the room will last longer, will not be subject to the ravages of fungi and rot.
The ventilation system is chosen depending on the design features of the building. For example, chopped baths can do without ventilation, or they install a simple type of ventilation.

In the construction of a modern bath, forced-air and exhaust ventilation with natural impulses is used.

If the bath is located in a separate structure, then in the foundation it is necessary to make vents, which should be located on opposite sides. The upper (finishing or white) layer of the floor is laid so that there is a gap of up to ten millimeters between the boards. It is recommended to make ventilation holes in the floor, which are covered with a grill. These holes will serve for air flow.

There is another way to ventilate the bath. The hole is located below the stove, so the incoming fresh air has time to warm up. On the wall, opposite from the stove, install 2 exhaust holes, which are united by one duct. The holes must be fitted with grills or latches.

If forced ventilation is made, the location of the ventilation holes does not matter.

Natural ventilation provides for a window that should be located at a height of 50 cm from the floor, while the exhaust hole is located at a height of 50 cm from the ceiling.

To make ventilation properly, you need to remember some rules:

it is impossible to have the inlet and exhaust opening in the opposite walls of the room on the same level. At the same time the air flow can close: at the top of the room it will be very hot, and below there will be a draft;
the exhaust port must be located above the inlet. This is if forced air outflow is not provided;
It is not recommended to make an exhaust hole in the ceiling, since the room will warm up for a long time. But if it is already there, then it should be closed with a latch, and it should be used only when it becomes too hot in the bath.
